Rainbow Trout Fry Syndrome (RTFS) – Vaccine Case Study

EpitopePredikt will be utilised in vaccine development for Rainbow Trout Fry Syndrome  (RTFS), caused by Flavobacterium psychrophilum. This disease is responsible for substantial economic losses in the rainbow trout industry globally.

At present, no commercial vaccines are available in Europe, leaving antibiotics as the only course of action to contain RTFS disease outbreaks. The lack of an effective vaccine has hampered the expansion of the trout industry.  In addition, the spread of this disease into salmon production in Scotland is a cause for concern.

EpitopePredikt will be employed to screen the pathogen antigens and identify relevant vaccine candidate antigens which will elicit systemic and mucosal antibody response.
